Marseille-based liner company CMA CGM has announced an update to its Asia-Kenya route with weekly direct services to the port of Qingdao.

In particular, starting from the 2005-built container ship Emmanuel P, which is expected to arrive in Qingdao on October 9, Asia Kenya Service will provide weekly direct flights to Qingdao and shorten the transportation time from North China to Kenya.

The new rotation will be Qingdao (China) - Shanghai (China) - Ningbo (China) - Nansha (China) - Singapore - Port Klang (Malaysia) - Mombasa (Kenya) - Singapore - Qingdao.

CMA CGM stated that it takes 27 days from Qingdao to Mombasa, 24 days from Shanghai to Mombasa, and 20 days from Nansha to Kenyan ports.

According to the company, containers currently transshipped in Colombo to Mogadishu, Nacala and Comoros will be transshipped via Mombasa and loaded onto its NOURA service, which will rotate Mombasa before Mogadishu.

Freight shipments from Asia to Mogadishu, Nacala and Comoros will now take nine days faster, while Mayotte will continue to be transshipped through Mombasa via the JEDDEX service and Zanzibar and Tanga will continue to be transshipped via Mombasa.
