2024-04-15

Danish shipping company Maersk has announced a restructuring of its Europe-West Africa service network, which will take effect from the 17th week of the year.

The WAF7 and WAF13 services will be merged and expanded to Coega, South Africa, to meet seasonal market demand in that country, while the WAF2 service will be upgraded and expanded to Freetown, Sierra Leone, the company said.

Maersk added that it will expand its WAF6 service to Port Said in Egypt to provide better coverage and reduce bottlenecks caused by disruptions in the Red Sea. The liner operator will also add a northbound Tema service to support West African exports.
