Full-Cycle Transportation of Burkina Faso Power Grid Project from Tema by SPEED INT'L

2026-04-02 - Leave me a message

Our company successfully completed the full-cycle cross-border transportation service for the materials of the Burkina Faso National Power Grid Project. The goods were shipped from Tema Port in Ghana and finally delivered safely to the designated unloading location in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

Throughout the process, we overcame multiple challenges including cross-border transportation, customs clearance, on-site operations and sudden safety risks, achieving zero damage to goods and on-time delivery, and providing reliable logistics support for major overseas power projects.

Project Overview

The goods for this shipment are core equipment and supporting materials for the Burkina Faso power grid. We adopted a combined transportation mode of ro-ro and container ships to match the characteristics of different goods, with details as follows:

  Container Transportation: 7 standard containers loaded with auxiliary power grid materials, ensuring efficient and organized delivery;

Ro-Ro Transportation: 9 pieces of large core equipment, including 2 main transformers, 4 oil storage tanks, 1 batch of cables and 2 equipment shields, with dedicated personnel for full-process supervision.

Transportation and Operation Guarantee

Port Receiving & Reinforcement

Upon the goods' arrival at Tema Port, Ghana, our professional team completed receiving and inspection promptly. For large power equipment, we conducted full-process lashing and reinforcement to prevent displacement during land transportation. All goods were fully covered with waterproof laminated tarpaulins to resist harsh weather and moisture damage. Each transport vehicle was equipped with a standard receipt form for full-process traceability and verification.

Cross-Border Transportation & Timeliness Control

The goods officially departed Tema Port on January 19th. We strictly controlled vehicle speed and routes in line with engineering logistics standards to avoid road risks during cross-border transportation, and safely arrived in Burkina Faso in early February, fulfilling our timeliness commitment accurately.

Cross-Border Customs Clearance & Procedures

After the goods entered Burkina Faso, we collaborated with local authoritative customs clearance agents to efficiently complete the entire process—including tax bill issuance, tax payment and customs inspection—with no delays or additional costs, ensuring smooth cross-border clearance.

Pre-Unloading Preparation

Prior to arriving at the final unloading location in Ouagadougou, we communicated in depth with the recipient to arrange large cranes and other unloading equipment, ensuring immediate unloading upon the goods' arrival to seamlessly align with the project schedule.

Emergency Safety Risk Handling

A sudden safety incident occurred during transportation: while vehicles were parked at the construction site overnight, rebel armed activities broke out nearby, accompanied by intense gunfire, creating a critical situation.

Our drivers activated the emergency plan immediately. The local Burkina Faso military responded promptly, evacuating our personnel to a military camp for safety during the conflict. Once the situation stabilized, we restarted transportation immediately, ensuring no casualties or goods damage.

Project Achievements

All goods were safely and intactly delivered to the designated location, successfully signed and accepted, earning high recognition from the customer.

This project marks another successful practice of our company in major engineering logistics in West Africa. It fully demonstrates our professional capabilities in cross-border heavy cargo transportation, emergency safety response, and overseas customs coordination, accumulating valuable experience for future power and infrastructure logistics services in West Africa and supporting the steady progress of overseas projects.
