Cape Town port call canceled

Previously, Maersk announced the reorganization of its Asia-West/South Africa network and realigned the FEW6 route between northern China and southwestern Africa. Two current calls at the Port of Cape Town have been cancelled.

In this regard, Maersk stated that the updated FEW6 service will focus on major ports in Southwest Africa and will call at Kribi.

A major change to the service will be the removal of Cape Town route coverage, shortening transit times between South West African ports and Asian ports to seven days

It is understood the service is operated jointly with CMA CGM and COSCO Group. Hapag-Lloyd and OOCL are the time charter companies, while Cape Town cargo owners will have access to a dedicated feeder between Cape Town and Mauritius transshipment hub Port Louis. Serve.

Maersk further added that a new service, Cape Town Express, will be launched as Cape Town is removed from FEW6.
