Throughout the Spring Festival, the major terminals of Guangzhou Port are filled with a lively and festive atmosphere. Container ships and trucks shuttle back and forth, colorful containers are stacked on top of each other, and the sounds of whistles, intercoms, and equipment are heard one after another.

The relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Port Authority said that in order to ensure the stable supply of important production and living materials during the Spring Festival, the Municipal Port Authority adheres to the work goal of "safety, efficiency and smooth flow", comprehensive coordination and scientific dispatch, and goes all out to complete the completion of containers, commercial vehicles The task of transporting , food, energy and other materials is to ensure that the operations of each port area do not stop and that all routes operate without interruption, giving full play to the role of the "vanguard" of the port supply chain and logistics chain, and ensuring the stability and smoothness of the industrial chain and supply chain of the Greater Bay Area. Statistics show that from February 9 to February 15, the handling volume of key materials at Guangzhou Port totaled 1.123 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 24.8% during the 2023 Spring Festival (January 21-27), of which 469,000 tons of grain were shipped, a year-on-year increase of 74.3%. %; 224,000 tons of oil products, a year-on-year increase of 54.5%; 12,304 commercial vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 32.8%. The majority of port cadres and workers stuck to their posts, worked 24 hours a day, strengthened emergency duties, and made a good start to the new year with great performance.

It is reported that the Municipal Port Authority has taken the initiative to connect with energy security companies such as Guangdong LNG and power plants, as well as liner companies and comprehensive large-scale terminals, to understand the dynamics of ship arrivals, scientifically and rationally formulate ship entry and exit plans, and allocate personnel, sites, equipment, tugboats and other production resources and go all out to ensure efficient port operations during the Spring Festival. From February 9 to February 15, the number of key material transport ships entering and exiting Guangzhou Port increased by 24.4% year-on-year, of which grain ships increased by 50% year-on-year, oil product ships increased by 27.8% year-on-year, and car ro-ro ships increased by 25% year-on-year.

In order to prevent the impact of cold wave, strong winds, heavy fog and other severe weather that may occur during the Spring Festival on port production, the Municipal Port Authority strengthens communication and cooperation with the meteorological department. During the Spring Festival, it promptly sends severe weather warnings to port enterprises through the SMS platform and the port WeChat group. Early warning reminds enterprises to take timely defensive measures. At the same time, we will strengthen safety inspections at key locations such as dock berthing facilities, dangerous goods storage sites, and Pearl River tourism enterprises to eliminate potential safety hazards in a timely manner.

In 2023, Guangzhou Port completed cargo throughput of 675 million tons and container throughput of 25.41 million TEU, a year-on-year increase of 2.91% and 2.24% respectively, ranking 5th and 6th in the world respectively. In particular, foreign trade grew strongly, with the increase in foreign trade goods and containers reaching 5.41% and 4.28% respectively. Guangzhou Port will continue to work with full enthusiasm and struggle, stick to its post to focus on production and ensure safety, and strive to promote port and shipping production to achieve a good start.
