Qingdao Port’s second African container route launches maiden voyage this year

On November 5, the "Emirates Excellence" ship made its maiden voyage at the Qianwan Container Terminal of Qingdao Port. This is the second African route newly opened by Qingdao Port this year. Qingdao Port currently has 9 African container routes.

The route departs from Qingdao and goes directly to the Port of Mombasa-Dar es Salaam in eastern Africa, further enriching the global route network layout of Qingdao Port.

Since this year, Qingdao Port has closely followed the national “Belt and Road” initiative, continuously improved the port service environment, and opened 12 new “Belt and Road” container routes, achieving a route density of weekly flights to Europe and the United States, and daily flights to Japan and South Korea. In the first three quarters, Qingdao Port completed cargo throughput of 504 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%; it completed container throughput of 22.34 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 11.6%. The port's main business achieved steady growth.
